Fonds consists of the administrative files created by the Mercer Union gallery during the first twenty years of its existence, including photographs and slides, material printed for the gallery (catalogues, posters, invitations etc.), newspaper reviews, and a small number of video tapes, audio tapes and computer disks. Files remain in the order they were received; errors in filing have not been corrected. Fonds consists of records relating to the life and work of the artist and author Charles William Jefferys. It includes the artist’s correspondence, notebooks, research materials and manuscripts of his written work. Also included in this fonds are the research materials compiled by Robert Stacey, the artist’s grandson, about all aspects of the life and work of Jefferys, including information on all Jefferys’ writings and art, articles and reviews published by and about Jefferys, as well as information about the artist’s personal life, professional activities and travels. Stacey also conducted research on the Jefferys family history. Fonds consists of the personal and professional records of Greg Curnoe. It includes such textual documentation as writing files; correspondence; project files including grant applications, records of the National Gallery retrospective exhibition, and Curnoe’s published writings; notebooks and journals kept by the artist, including his cycling journals; and a number of bookworks. Visual material includes numerous sketchbooks and works on paper as well as extensive photographic documentation of Curnoe’s studio, social and professional activities, exhibitions, family life, and art work. Also included are printing blocks and rubber stamps used in Curnoe’s art making. The fonds contains audio and audiovisual material which records important events and ideas in Curnoe’s life. The fonds includes two pop culture collections relating closely to Curnoe’s art practice: his collection of buttons and his collection of regional pop bottles. The collection consists of research material gathered by Judith Rodger in the course of her work on the catalogue for the Art Gallery of Ontario exhibition Greg Curnoe: Life and Stuff. Collection includes audio recordings of Curnoe, published articles, photographs, ephemera, and eulogies for Curnoe. Sources for individual items include Jack Behrens, Glen Curnoe, Tony McAulay, and Brenda Wallace.

The collection consists of 45 architectural drawings in ink and wash, comprising elevations and details of major Italian and German churches, probably drawn as student projects.

Fonds consists of correspondence, sketches, exhibition notices and posters, press clippings, photographs, financial records, and artefacts relating to Iain Baxter’s career as an artist and university instructor. It includes records of the N.E. Thing Company, the Eye Scream Restaurant, and later solo work by Baxter. Also included are records of Baxter’s employment by Labatt’s Canada as Creative Consultant, and of his collaborations with Louise Chance Baxter.

Fonds consists of the contents of an autograph album, primarily consisting of letters received by Goldwin Smith from various correspondents throughout North America and Europe. The fonds also includes a few intact pages of the album with autographs.
